January 16, 2016- Our annual Lee/Jackson Banquet was held at the YO Ranch Resort Hotel in Kerrville, Texas. Fifty seven attended the event with guests from Camps in Lubbock, Midland, San Angelo, Madisonville and Hondo.

Special guests included Johnnie Holly(Past Tx Div CMDR) and Mrs. Holly,  David McMahon ( Tx Div 1st LCMDR and West Tx Brigade CMDR) and his wife Golda Foster  as well as other Brigade, Camp, and OCR Chapter officers.

Camp Commander Jim Maxwell was awarded a certificate and medal for his 25 tears as a member of Sons of Confederate Veterans.  Compatriot Tom Terrell was awarded the Texas Division Silver Cross for his consistent participation  in Lone Star Rifles Color Guard activities.

The program entitled Texans and their Confederate Flags was presented by Larry and Pam Wilhoite Of Waxahatchie Texas. They presented reproductions of various regimental flags with a informative history of their origins and meanings.


November 14, 2015-  Camp 1938 marched in the Bandera, TX  Veterans Day Parade.


November 11, 2015- LSR Honor Guard served in Veterans Day Memorial at the Kerrville Veterans Cemetery.


September 5 2015- Camp 1938 joined by members from camps in New Braunfels and San Antonio participated in the Bandera Labor Day Parade.


July 11, 2015- Camp 1938 participated in the annual Center Point, TX . The Lone Star Rifles served as honor guard and received First Place Overall trophy.



 June 6, 2015- Camp Adjutant Don Taylor was honored as Confederate of the Year at the Texas Division Reunion in Temple, Texas.



 May 25, 2015- Lone Star Rifles were invited to participate as honor guard at the Kerrville Veteran's Cemetery Memorial Day ceremony. Rain forced the ceremony to be conducted indoors.

April 25, 2015- Camp 1938 held our annual Confederate Memorial Day Ceremony at Centerpoint, Texas cemetery. The LSR Honor Guard posted the Colors, performed the Last Canteen Ceremony and the Musket Salute.

Ted Conerly played 'Amazing Grace' on the bagpipe and 'Taps' was blown by John Tittle.

Linda Miller portrayed the Black Rose, assisted by OCR and UDC members, in the Black Rose Ceremony.



April 13, 2015- Camp 1938 participated in support of UDC Chapter 2462's Memorial Ceremony at Glen Rest Cemetery Kerrville Texas. The ceremony honored the Confederate veterans interred there. Camp Honor Guard posted the colors, Musket Salute and Canteen Ceremony.  Bugler John Tittle Played Taps

OCR Chapter 26 performed the Rose Ceremony with the UDC conducting the remainder of the program.


 February 21, 2015- LSR Honor Guard provided Colors for Tom Green Camp #1630's ceremony

at Varga Chapel Cemetery located north of Richland  Springs,  Texas.

A marker was dedicated to Paul Varga a Confederate soldier.

Guard members were Jim Maxwell, Don Taylor, John Tittle, Tom Terrell and Randy Speidel.

Maxwell and Taylor performed the last canteen ceremony with bugler John Tittle playing Taps.



February 7, 2015 - LSR Honor Guard again participated in a Bandera parade.

This was their Mardi Gras celebration and was viewed by an extremely large number of celebrants.

Honor Guard members Jim Maxwell, Don Taylor, John Tittle, Tom Terrell and Randy Speidel marched.

Ella Richards, Linda Miller, Kay Speidel, Dee Maxwell and Bonnie Taylor rode the float.

  A Filet Mignon dinner was served after which Mr. Hunt gave a very interesting program on the

" Last Battle of the Civil War: Palmetto Ranch".

   OCR member Jane Ginn was presented  the Golden Rose Award, given to OCR members who have attained their 80th birthday.

   Kay Conerly wife of Ted Conerly attended her last event. We lost our beloved Kay a few days later as she entered her Heavenly Home.




  November 8, 2014 -  LCR Honor Guard participated in the Bandera Texas Veterans Day Parade.

 Participants were: Jim Maxwell, Don Taylor, Stephen Short and Randy Speidel. OCR members Bonnie Taylor and Dee Maxwell were also present.




 Mike Peeples was sworn in as newest member of SCV Camp 1938 on October 16, 2014.

 Camp 1938 participated in the Celebrate Bandera (TX) parade on Aug 30, 2014, winning the 1st place trophy

The LSR Honor Guard along with two additional members and three Hill Country Rose ladies represented the camp.
